This just started this today. When I start my Kindle Fire it opens to the "shelves" of favorites. When I tap a website, it looks as though its going to connect, but it just goes back to the shelves of favorites. I can go to the apps library and download apps, and can get to the newsstand, just won't open up the websites. I tried the 20 second restart a few times with no luck. Also, it doesn't change views when flipping it sideways or upside down either. Any thoughts or is this a job for the repairman. Thanks in advance for any info.

Has the wi-fi of the device been accidentally turned off?
Are other wireless devices able to connect to the internet?
If the device is trying to connect to the network, is it your network?
Issue of screen not rotating: When you tap the gear icon (top right) main screen, the next screen should show that the device is unlocked (1st choice, top left).
If the lack of internet connection is only the K, it may need servicing but I would seek this avenue only after ensuring you have connectivity to other devices. If unsure, try seeking the help of someone close by that is knowledgeable about internet connection problems.

Sorry, I should have mentioned the wi-fi connection was fine. I did a google search of the problem and I think it was an Amazon forum had the answer. I had to clear the cache and data. It also cleared my bookmarks, but thats OK, at least its working again. Just out of curiosity, any idea why this is. Does it get to full to run the internet? Any way to do it without losing all the bookmarks? Have to remember to do that now and then. And hgfire, thanks for the reply.

Wow! I learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing this.
I do clear my browser from time to time by habit more than anything else I guess.
Anyhow the link below and the threads therein should help in solving the back-up of your bookmarks for the future.
